We recommend a geriatric workup on all pets eight years of age and older. About this age most pets are entering their "golden years."  Just as many humans may need special medical attention, as they grow older, so do pets. Today, veterinarians have many choices of special diets, therapies, and medications available (if needed) to improve 1he quality of life for older pets.

As always, prevention is the best and least expensive medicine. The geriatric workup that we recommend consists of: an extensive examination, blood work, urinalysis, x-rays, etc. This is very important at this age in life.

Early detection can aid in the prevention of many diseases.
